Alain Caron

Alain Caron was born in Paris but has been living in the Netherlands for over 30 years. Before Alain found his passion in the culinary world, he spent two years unclogging Parisian sinks and even had his own jazz-rock band, Dune. Unfortunately, this path wasn’t quite right for him, and when his band disbanded, he left for Paris with his Dutch friend, Jet, to work in a restaurant there. It was here that he learned the basics of French cuisine.

After working there for a while, Alain and Jet decided to embark on a world trip for 1.5 years. Upon their return, Alain honed his cooking skills in various Parisian (starred) kitchens before eventually moving to the Netherlands. Here, he worked in different restaurants such as De Kerstentuin, Tante Koosje, and Restaurant Christophe. After gaining extensive experience in multiple restaurants, Alain made his debut as a TV chef in 1995 on the show “Wie Kookt Er”. However, his real fame came when he became a judge on “MasterChef Holland”. Now, Alain can be seen weekly as a presenter on the show “Binnenstebuiten”.

He is now almost everywhere on TV and has written several cookbooks. In 2017, he opened his own restaurant with his wife and children in the Netherlands; Café Caron. In the years that followed, he opened the restaurants Petit Caron, Cantine de Caron, and De Gouden Reael.
