Carl Gast

In 2011, Carl Gast went to Australia to work as a Chef de Partie in various restaurants for a year. After this year, Carl moved to New Zealand and worked for several years at a boutique hotel called The George in Christchurch. His journey then took him to various Asian countries to do internships at large hotels, including the Marriott and Hyatt. After 5.5 years, he returned to the Netherlands and continued his career at the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam, where he spent 5 years at Restaurant Taiko.

Then came the perfect opportunity to start the project Helling7 together with Dirk Mooren. At Helling7, cooking is done exclusively over open fire, grilling, and smoking.

Carl’s cooking style is known for cooking over open fire, combining classical French cuisine with Asian influences that he gained throughout his journey through life.
