Julius Jaspers

Julius Jaspers, born in 1962, is not only a chef-entrepreneur and cookbook author but also a dragon tamer in his free time. Starting in cafés in Amsterdam, he began Julius’ traiteurs from his parental home at the age of 20, making him the youngest caterer in the Netherlands. After running 2 food stores in Amsterdam and Bussum and a restaurant on Max Euweplein, he took over his mother’s lifelong work, Studio Bazar, in 1992. In 2010, he changed course, left the trade, and returned to the restaurant world. From 2013 to 2019, Julius was co-owner of Julius bar&grill and 2 branches of the Asian street food restaurants Happyhappyjoyjoy, all in Amsterdam. During the same period, he presented 310 episodes of Topchef with Robert Kranenborg and later a season of Masterchef. As we speak, Julius is currently writing his 26th cookbook. Since 2022, Julius has hosted the successful podcast Julius’ Voorraadkast at Tonny Media, in which he discusses an ingredient from his kitchen weekly in 10 minutes.
