SAAM restaurant

SAAM stands for: South Africa-AMstel. But also for ‘together’ in Afrikaans. SAAM wants to show that things can be done differently, and maybe even should. With a relaxed atmosphere, delicious food, and good wine with the right attention from the team. The team behind SAAM has a clear vision and plenty of experience. The kitchen is led by executive chef Margot Janse and managed by chefs Jasper Hermans. Additionally, a team of top sommeliers, consisting of Koen van der Plas and Jet Rijkers, is ready to provide SAAM restaurant guests with the finest wines.

The menu at SAAM restaurant consists of dishes that are a fusion of Dutch and South African cuisine, using only pure and honest ingredients. The wine list pays special attention to the finest wines that South Africa has to offer. Additionally, there is also a rich selection of European wines available, so it’s the best of both worlds. At SAAM restaurant, you can enjoy an informal dining experience with personal attention and genuine hospitality, without the formal atmosphere. Although all materials are presented modestly, SAAM restaurant uses only the highest quality, so everyone feels at home as soon as they walk in.

The restaurant has 48 seats on the ground floor, including a chef’s table for 10 people that offers the best view of the culinary preparations by chefs Jasper Hermans and Rody Ponne. Additionally, there are also seats available for guests who like to gather at the bar. SAAM restaurant has an upper bar with 20 spots. And in the summer, there’s a terrace, with space for boats to dock, with 30 seats. Let yourself be advised by a team of top sommeliers for the best wine and food experience. Co-owner Margot Janse, former chef of The Tasting Room at Le Quartier Français, continues to live in South Africa and brings her menu inspiration from there. Janse collaborates virtually with the team and regularly visits SAAM restaurant throughout the year.
